Anime – Attack On Titan [REVIEW] – The Man-eating Abominations

MyAnimeList Rating: 8,49/10
Genre: Action, Military, Mystery, Super Power, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen

In addition to My Hero Academia’s third season while it’s running, Attack On Titan will also not miss. The third season that will be aired this year’s summer became an anime that one of the most anticipated, especially out there. Attack On Titan is the same as My Hero Academia. I’ve watched this anime before college and had time to recap this anime for a moment. Although some people think this anime is the most “overrated” series ever, the fact is just like that if for myself. But, this series is also what I enjoy because this series is actually not too overhyped but failed like the Sword Art Online series. Attack On Titan is one of the best anime ever made during this decade because of the rapid development of this series to be a trademark in an anime industry.

“Attack On Titan,” tells about a mankind being cornered by a creatures called titans, causing humans to build a wall and protect them. What makes these giants more dreadful is the sense when they eat humans not because of hunger but for no apparent reason. In order to keep mankind afloat, they build a defense like barriers that survive 100 years without any titan attacking. However, that peace makes a colossal titan destroy the outer walls until the number of titans enters. This makes Eren Yeager join a Survey Corps, a military unit that keeps the chaos going on outside the walls. Attack On Titan tells of Eren along with his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, whose together enter into the unit to fight the titan before they eat mankind.

AOT 01

Attack On Titan presents us a story far from beyond of 100 years. One of the things I’m amazed about this is the technology that some have started to be sophisticated and already in there beyond. But, this is Attack On Titan. Humanity in that year lived in a wall divided into 3 even titan can’t knock it down. There are Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sina. These walls also represent their districts where the outer walls are “low,” the walls of the two is “workers” or something like that, and the deepest or third wall of the government and its “wealthy” people. So, this is more like a satire in real life. The first episode of this anime has presented us just how epic and dynamic this anime is. It’s like a rollercoaster that has gone faster first, suddenly walked slowly, and the action that’s more intense make this rollercoaster speed so fast that cannot be stopped. We will be introduced by Eren Yeager, someone who has just seen his mother eaten by a titan in front of him and becomes a nightmare until a huge revenge for himself. Same as Mikasa Ackerman, a support character for the main character who will play a lot in her own role. The first impression of watching this anime presented many plots of holes that will have to be patient to wait for the answer. The art and the animation is really great suspense and masterpiece. Wit studio shows their drawing skills with stunning results. I mean, I rarely get an anime that combining 2D as well as 3D at the same time. Even though I got it, I thought some were weird so it’s better to be 2D. But, not for Attack On Titan. The visual is made in detail with dark saturation colors leaving a gloomy impression on this anime. Some of the visuals sometimes present a bright saturation in order to describe the calm atmosphere in some of the scenes. Then, sometimes a jump cut happens here where the quiet atmosphere becomes gloomy. The choreography is also described in great detail and anxiety, especially in the action scene. The cinematography is good at taking angle cameras so we’ve never seen this before. This is also strengthened in the visual aspect at the time of opening but this is also a minor problem because the opening shows more spoiler as well as Tokyo Ghoul.

AOT 02

The music is really damn good. Linked Horizon takes part in the first opening as well as both. The songs combine two different languages such as Japanese and German. However, the music is still tingling in the head. The swiftly played tune, the lyrics of a soldier and a passionate song became a song that is also overrated to this day. “Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai” by Yoko Hikasa is actually good although my mind is pretty dim. Same as the “great escape” by Cinema Staff. Yui Ishikawa as a Mikasa Ackerman is really cool with her cool voice for female characters. Similar to Violet Evergarden with the same character but there’s a little improvisation that makes a cool character and sympathy. Yuki Kaji as an Eren Yeager I think I don’t see the privilege and different from other characters that he fills the voice. Marina Inoue as an Armin Arlert is a bit weird because of her male character but it’s really fit with that. Hiroshi Kamiya as a Levi is really damn great. I mean, it’s a gem. His characteristics that I’ve seen so much more than any other character is really cool here. In fact, his character really fits his seiyuu. For others, there is nothing I can value anymore even though I think everything is good.

AOT 03

The character is the same as shounen anime in general. But, there’s something different because it’s not like a shounen anime that I know. In Attack On Titan, all of the characters are told up and backed with powerful storytelling with only 25 episodes are enough. This is about a friendship, rival, betrayal, pains, dark backstory, depression, and many more. They’re all diverse and have different attributes. The role is also played as nicely as possible whether it’s main or supporting characters. There are Eren who have stubborn personality, Mikasa who’s cool but great, Armin with his intelligence but always depression, Levi who’s cool and overpowered, Sasha who often eats potatoes, Annie that always lonely, Hange who love to research a titan, Jean who considers Eren as his rival just because of jealousy with Mikasa, and many more. The part I like is also the recruitment of expedition soldiers arc who make me intense but emotional in it. This scene is also not all characters will go inside but later will be told separately. I think this is not stereotypical in shounen anime because it’s logic that they used. This anime also sometimes has memorable moments and precious in it. There is emotional, drama, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, action everywhere, blood, gore, and much more. Sometimes, these scenes depress us in some views because the author also doesn’t hesitate to kill a good character that has a big or small role. But, this is I like about this anime. Unlike other shounenAttack On Titan has shown its gloom early in the episode.

Overall, Attack On Titan is one of the overrated anime, I admit. But, it’s really good by the way though I’m not into the genre. Sometimes, despite spoilers, I usually just enjoy the action rather than the stories that I already know. The overall aspects are excellent. Established a story about humanity far away 100 years ago, a fantasy where titan and man wage war. The animation is really appreciated for combining 2D and 3D very well and very intense choreography that made severely by the studio. The theme song is really good because it’s Linked Horizon. The diverse characters make this anime even better and give a good story of each character, although there are several plots of holes. If you haven’t watch it, just watch from now on if you have time because this anime is getting away from its popularity even the third season will be aired in next season.

Anime – My Hero Academia 2 [REVIEW] – The Path To Glory Is Never Easy

MyAnimeList Rating: 8,77/10
Genre: Action, Comedy, Super Power, School, Shounen
Studios: Bones
Author: Kouhei Horikoshi
Seiyuu: Daiki Yamashita, Yuki Kaji, Nobuhiko Okamoto

After reviewing the first season of My Hero Academia, the second season was actually successful because what I had wanted was a bit achievable and no longer as impressive as the shounen anime in general, although is a bit cliche. The first season only got 13 episodes just so the anime seemed hard to get a good storytelling and perfect for me. But, the second season makes the fans of this anime more widespread again especially their diehards and fanboys. In this second season, it may come back to focus on the main character, the addition of characters, and conflicts that further broaden the character again. What made it happen at the end of the first season episode generated a lot of experience from the whole character and the second season was the restorative.

“My Hero Academia 2,” tells about after an event that occurred in UA Academy. A sports festival is held in order to get a chance to show the young superhero’s strengths in public and attract other superheroes. However, the road to get there isn’t easy, especially for Izuku Midoriya (Daiki Yamashita) who still can’t master his power. Tackled by his classmates like Shouto Todoroki (Yuki Kaji) who has the power of ice and fire, Izuku must be able to sharpen and control the situation he experienced in order to achieve victory and prove its existence to the world.

MHA2 01

Actually, what makes My Hero Academia 2 greatly improved from its fandom? The answer, My Hero Academia 2 just need a good storytelling, seem cliched but clad uniquely so it’s not visible, and the characters are diverse in it. In the second season, this series is more about the development of its character even Izuku Midoriya more noticeable improvement little by little and he also was able to control his own “quirk” thanks to All Might and his mentor. But, what amazes me here is the role of Shouto Todoroki is deeper than Izuku Midoriya. Katsuki Bakugou is actually a bit closed because it’s more taken by Todoroki. In addition, the story also doesn’t require more villains and something like that because it’s more focused on main characters and others. Therefore, the tournament arc is the answer to all shounen anime. However, I like this arc because there is a sense of intensity and anticipation of all of it. A new character is also here. But this is also my problem because this new characters it just disappears from their own role as if they were a cameo. However, the story is further extended to a triangular rival between Midoriya, Bakugou, and Todoroki so there is an enthusiasm for each character. As usual, there was nothing I could expect from the animation and the artwork. Just like the first season, there is no special knowledge here. But, this is more like improvisation. The battle scene is really well-choreographed and the superpower elements are more evident. One that shows this element better is the tournament arc, again. In this arc, I know many people will admit that the fight between Midoriya and Todoroki is the best. One to another, they show the power that really looks superpower so somehow I also carried in it. But, others aspect I see is just as common as the first season. It’s colorful, nice costume, smooth camera angles, and it’s a Bones studio. In halfway, My Hero Academia made me feel out of bounds when watching this anime. In fact, I watch this series in a one-night marathon because it can no longer be underestimated and I admit this is one of the shounen anime that worth watching if you want to find something that entirely there is action everywhere and the theme that it brings the superhero.

MHA2 02

I don’t feel memorable with the opening and the ending theme song. “Peace Sign” by Kenshi Yonezu, “Sora ni Utaeba” by amazarashi, “Dakara, Hitori ja nai” by Little Glee Monster, and “Datte Atashi no Hero” by LiSA. But, I know LiSA always creates memorable anime songs in it. Some the theme song I know even though not watching the anime at all. But, amazarashi is the best I think if I compare it with the others. Everything is strengthened from the soundtrack that produces more intense in it. Not to mention, the seiyuu is still the same as my review of what was in the first season. Its sound also produces more tune to the classical hero but it’s so difficult to forget. If I discuss the characters, there are some minor problems. One of them is Todoroki. I was originally writing why this character appeared instantly compared to its more enclosed on the first season. However, this character is the culmination of all characters so that Todoroki has more fans than any other character. This is what makes us weird because, after the conflict that was continued in each arc, this character is immediately released from the conflict earlier that he became a triangular rival between Midoriya and Bakugou became more allies for Midoriya. But, I don’t mind this because I still think is good on the other side. The other characters also become more open and more revealing the emotionally experienced backstory. Uraraka, Iida, and others more into the conflict again so that storytelling is perfect to be able to help the protagonist. Being over again, Todoroki who further extends the backstory as well as his past more into emotionally deeply adds more story to the drama but on the other hand, it becomes the benchmark of the character. Of all the characters, Chizome Akaguro a.k.a. Hero Killer: Stain is the badass in here. Perhaps, he should get more portions because he is one of the anti-hero characters that gives great influence both from the side of hero or villain. I also like Tomura Shigaraki’s part about the last line he spoke in the last episode. It’s complex but it’s logical in motivation ways though, he is an antagonist.

Overall, if you are not really satisfied with the first season, just watch the second season that’s more violent. This anime brings its audience to a higher level with the support of colorful animations, smooth camera movements, more extended characters, and a soundtrack that really supports everything. But, some lacks such as the replacement of character roles, more focused on the character’s development, as well as the often-changing characters make this anime close from what I mentioned. Despite that, Stain has fixed it even though I predicted the third season would be even insane than the previous seasons. Another great shounen shows and it’s just simple with good storytelling.

Anime – My Hero Academia [REVIEW] – What It Really Means To Be A Hero

MyAnimeList Rating: 8,43/10
Genre: Action, Comedy, School, Shounen, Super Power
Studios: Bones
Author: Kouhei Horikoshi
Seiyuu: Daiki Yamashita, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Kenta Miyake

My Hero Academia is an anime written by Kouhei Horikoshi who draws inspiration from many American superhero comics. Nothing wrong if this anime is getting a lot of great appreciation out there even the series that I can say “overrated” into something very popular for anyone watching an anime or not. I just watched the 2nd season even though it was a bit late to resolve. The Crunchyroll Award last year also put a lot of hope from the second season series that also made me a bit disappointed and angry with them. But, this is a cliche thing that I want to enjoy too. It’s not my typical shounen anime or anything else but I just want to enjoy an anime with full of action in it. Because indeed, men like that thing although sometimes I think is pretty childish. This spring also has the third season that starts running now while I also don’t want to follow it first. If it’s all out, I’m going to spit it out. The first season I’ve also watched this during a long time. So, it’s weird if I want to review the second season and the first season when I’ve been watching for a long time. But, let me try it that I hope I still remember it.

“My Hero Academia,” tells about the emergence of “quirks,” superpowers that increase little by little each year with 80% of human beings capable of expelling various abilities from the manipulation of an element until shapeshifting. This leaves a wound for the world for those who don’t have it, especially Izuku Midoriya (Daiki Yamashita) who since his childhood has the ambition to become a hero. Izuku always watches the superhero so he always analyzes it using his notebook. However, he meets one of his favorite longtime inspiration idols, All Might (Kenta Miyake). All Might has a quirk that can be inherited and Izuku is the person who was chosen after seeing a strong ambition inside him. Practicing for months, Izuku stepped into a UA High, a school notable for its excellent program and having people fresh with him. With some of his classmates who are also very talented and always grip how the villain organization works, Izuku learns a lot there.

MHA 01

My Hero Academia doesn’t impress a heavy storytelling because it’s back again from its own anime. The story is simple and the main point of this anime is a superpower and superhero. With both of these things creates “quirks,” a term of the power from each of these superheroes. There is no obvious reason that the protagonist and antagonist here because of the tide’s always back and forth. Izuku Midoriya is a protagonist who has no “quirks” at all in the beginning. He is often bullied by his childhood friend Katsuki Bakugou who makes this character a memorable antagonist, at the beginning. I said at the beginning because the development of this character will eventually peak when he was defeated by the protagonist. Making himself learn from his past, the characters still remain the same. But, one of the focusings of this anime has lies is in “All Might.” He is a superhero who inspires many people, including Midoriya and Bakugou. But, if you didn’t understand what I’m saying right now, let me summarize this. It has a childish theme, bad jokes, predictable, upside down storytelling and many more. So, I came back again because it was as impressive as the cartoons of children in general. This is disappointed me in good ways. If you want to know what My Hero Academia has it all, the art is somewhat mediocre. Studio Bones is known for the very popular anime, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood that produces the best artwork and animation from this studio. Though I was just as exaggerated, I admitted it was. My Hero Academia feels like a superhero comic that moves by itself. There is no obvious reason for that but, people consider for a good thing. Although like that, I’m a little fond of the artwork that presented in this anime because is memorable colorful and remembers, this is a superhero thing. The costumes that designed also impressed in such a way as to read Marvel or DC comics.

MHA 02

The opening song is more I like best from any other aspect. Porno Graffiti perform the song’s “The Day” with a vigorous music as if portraying a superhero in general. With his lyrics inviting adrenaline superheroes, they play this song with a fast tempo so it’s not wrong if this song is one of the overrated songs at the time. The song is also enhanced with its visuals and mood that fits perfectly with everything. I don’t really remember that “Heroes” by Brian the Sun is not very memorable for me. In fact, I forgot how the song sounded. This ending theme song is also pretty good if I hear it again. Daiki Yamashita who fills Izuku Midoriya can be spelled out even though this is one of the most underrated seiyuu. Some I know only Yowamushi Pedal before this anime comes out. Nobuhiko Okamoto is the badass in this anime that fills Katsuki Bakugou. His character changed rapidly when previously filling out Karma Akabane from Assassination Classroom. Kenta Miyake, Ayane Sakura, Kaito Ishikawa, and friends I said well. But, Kaji Yuki is cool in this. In the second season too, he took part in filling Shouto Todoroki. The composer, Yuuki Hayashi, has a good score like the superhero thing in general. There is a lot of disappointment from the characters. I know that the first season just gets a little ration compared to the second season. But, all of its characters are well lame. I know that there are many different characters in here. But, we don’t know who their roles are. For example, Izuku Midoraya which is, supposedly, the protagonist is even further his role is so small. Probably because the author wants to make something like zero to hero, development little by little.

MHA 03

But, All Might finally take part at the end of the episode. Katsuki Bakugou who as we know is a bully who’s trying to impress like a bad guy. But, he’s not an antagonist because he only supports the character of the protagonist. It also makes me feel uncomfortable with this character because his role is often up and down even unclear. Although explain all characters is long, this anime feels like memorable to display a variety of characters but the role of these characters is narrow. Only a few characters that have an important role here while there are some characters are also trying to enter into the supporting figure of the protagonist. By the way, Shouta Aizawa and Shouto Todoroki are my favorite characters in this anime even though their role is also spelled out a bit here. After some of the complaints I’ve been putting through words, I’m enjoying them all apart from those lacks because coming back again, this is a superhero thing where all men love this very much. It’s like an anime that target some teenagers even adults. Children may not be able to get understand when they watch this anime even though it seems predictable, childish, and lame characters, this is the shounen thing. So, this anime I can say is perfect for everyone both for men and women because this is a casual thing.

Overall, My Hero Academia is a casual watching where everyone will love it. If you like an action, you’ll love it. If you like a superhero, you’ll love it. If you like a superpower, you’ll love it too. In essence, this anime can be said suitable for you who still teens even adults who want to enjoy an anime version of Marvel or DC. From zero to hero, a few flaws exist in this anime. Has a lame character, a jumping plot, the role of the characters who are always upside down, and too childish. Although like that, this anime is devoted to teenagers and adults. From the beginning of it, I feel that this anime certainly will have a sequel regardless of the popularity. The second season is even much better through some I feel there is less as well. Although that way, the second season is more towards well-development, while the first season is more to the introduction of heroes and villains. Therefore, next, I will discuss the second season of this series.

Anime – Violet Evergarden [REVIEW] – An “Auto Memory Doll”

MyAnimeList Rating: 8,56/10
Genre: Slice of Life, Drama, Fantasy
Studios: Kyoto Animation
Author: Kana Akatsuki (Story), Akiko Takase (Art)
Seiyuu: Yui Ishikawa, Daisuke Namikawa, Kouki Uchiyama

Violet Evergarden is one of the anime’s novel adaptations written by Kana Akatsuki and Akiko Takase that won the grand prize in the 5th Kyoto Animation Award program’s novel category in 2014. Originally, I saw the PV on the internet. The beauty of the artwork attracted the attention of all audience who wanted to watch this anime. Some people say that they are not seeing for what they want. They just say that KyoAni only focuses on the artwork and the animation details rather than a boring story. I also watch this anime just for seeing that beauty of the visual, not to enjoy the story at all. But, this anime is one of the best anime in Winter 2018. It’s not wrong if many people say that this is overrated. Do they not know the term overrated itself? Actually, it’s not like that. Violet Evergarden extends their storytelling so brilliantly and taught us to sympathize with someone.

Violet Evergarden GIF

“Violet Evergarden,” tells about a war that remained for 4 years has ended. Violet Evergarden (Yui Ishikawa) is a young girl who is also sent to the battlefield. She was then hospitalized after the last war where she only remembered a word spoken by her dearest but didn’t understand what it meant. After she returned to normal, she started her life working at CH Postal Services after she also got a new family. There, she works as an “Auto Memory Doll,” someone who works in putting people’s feelings and thoughts into words. Violet started her life as an Auto Memory Doll, a trade that would make and search for herself until her dearest spoken word.

VE 01

If I summarize the whole story of this anime, there is someone who wants to find a meaning about “love.” In addition, I can also summarize it like crying, crying, and cry. Each episode presents the main character or support’s crying. Nothing distinguishes it. But, this is only a parable. Violet Evergarden has a flush set in the post-war. Moreover, this anime takes the place after the world undergoing its redemption of post-war. In this anime, we will be introduced to the story of Violet Evergarden, an “Auto Memory Doll” who hasn’t been able to find her true identity. Born with a dark past until she considers being a weapon, she was taken to a job where she could write a letter. This is the interconnection between the main character and the letter. Each episode is so heartwarming, charming, sad, and happy. Followed by the characters or clients that she will meet in each episode, this is where the anime will act and how to make their audiences cry. From the beginning, Violet Evergarden’s character has no emotion at all, and even some people say that she is more like a puppet who has no feelings. Little by little, Violet transformed into a person who had feelings and was not fascinated. Likewise when writing letters. The words she used often contain that are rough and overwhelmed military. Little by little, she can pour her emotions into the relationship between the characters she encounters. This is also what makes me feel cliche due to the use of the same storytelling. More like succinctly, meeting, past, regret, crying, to the problem-solving along with happy cries. But, it’s just like this because Violet Evergarden taught us more about sympathy than what you want to get and expect from the beginning.

VE 02

The artwork and visuals that made why I was interested to watch this anime. Every time some of the PV came out on the internet, I always watch it. Each episode is always spoiled with animation that runs in great detail both the main character, background and supporting characters. This aspect is reinforced when KyoAni shows the dark past of Violet with the darkness of war and the climax section which is depicted full of intense, action, but mixed with drama. The transition between day and night is also made as beautiful as possible because this aspect is also what I like. Nothing is too exaggerated here because KyoAni keeps and expects everything in this aspect. The trademark of this studio is no longer underestimated because I already know how the results. Both opening and ending song, I love it. “Sincerely” by TRUE has lyrics that illustrate the background and feelings experienced by the main character especially in the part of lyrics “Why am I crying right now? How should I answer my heart?” which illustrates exactly how Violet progresses little by little that how she understands her feelings. She was crying but she didn’t know why. Same as “Michishirube” by Minori Chihara as emotional as the opening song, especially on the “An irreplaceable treasure, a nameless flower sleeps peacefully.” where the name Violet comes from the flower but is still asleep inside her. Therefore, the development will be a treasure that no one can replace. Talking about Violet can’t be separated from the seiyuu, Yui Ishikawa. Her character just as she fills Mikasa Ackerman’s voice from Attack On Titan. But, when comparing it, there is a lot of improvisation that she’s doing here. The character she plays emotionless until people think her unfeeling like a doll. But, I’m always surprised how her character always smiles to cry suddenly and it makes me more sympathetic, again, for this character. What’s clear, the character and the seiyuu has managed to create a character and a whole voice to Violet Evergarden.

VE 03

Violet Evergarden has the characteristics that I mentioned. It’s still unclear the story of how she didn’t have a parent that makes me feel unfinished because her past only focused on the times where she was treated by Gilbert Bougainvillea until she became a deadly weapon by the military. The development character is also not too impressed dash so I like carried away by her as well. The supporting characters also maintain the atmosphere experienced by Violet in every episode. However, Cattleya Baudelaire and Benedict Blue are not clear characters and don’t really connect strong affinities to Violet. Other characters such as Erica Brown and Iris Cannary connect the bonds in several episodes. I don’t know about the light novel so, I would not consider this as a major problem. What makes Violet Evergarden has it all? The answer of all is not too excessive and doesn’t degrade and raise the mood of the whole audience. So, this anime has an emotional story and heartwarming. Some people also say that some of the stories that are in the episode immediately brought to the inside because of their experience also felt bounded. For example, a loved one dies in war, a melodrama between parent and child, the stereotypical of those who judge a reversed society, a person who revenge for seeing others from his past, a someone who’s estimates for all his problems so as to burden himself, and someone who stuck of love simply because it came from the royal family. Stories that are presented are also felt so realistic even though this anime is a fantasy. So, Violet Evergarden is an anime that suits you guys who want to look back for emotional drama thing but don’t contain darkness.

Overall, there are a lot of morals up to the lessons that you’ll get from this anime, actually. Violet Evergarden presents a story that runs slowly and boring, to be honest. But, I would not recommend this anime for those who still lay, don’t really understand a drama, and don’t really like a drama. Some of the responses of people I read through his review say that this anime focuses only on the cliché part of the filler in every episode. I also think like that and I consider it as a minor problem as I mentioned. But, that’s the way the anime runs because it’s back again that this is a drama, not an action. If you want to find something charming and animation that made the details as beautiful as possible, Violet Evergarden is the answer because this anime will certainly make you stranded in such a way. What a true beauty in Winter 2018.

Anime – Kokkoku [REVIEW] – The World Of “Stasis”

MyAnimeList Rating: 7,24/10
Genre: Psychological, Supernatural, Drama, Mystery, Seinen
Studios: Geno Studio
Author: Seita Horie
Seiyuu: Chika Anzai, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Asami Seto

I don’t know what I want to expect from this series. Originally, this anime was good in the beginning because it caught my attention in the first episode. There are many questions that arise when I watch this anime and I’m just like why is this happens, who this person is, how it could be and others. However, Kokkoku tries to make an intense anime like a thriller or just have some fun. I think this anime is good. But, I hope that this anime should get more attention again in the last season. For those of you who are fond of time-related or ambiguous things, this anime will surely suit you.

“Kokkoku,” tells about Juri Yukawa (Chika Anzai) who just rejected 19 jobs during an interview in one day that caused him no longer adequate. Her working mother, her NEED brother, her retired father, and a single parent sister. The only hope that she can raise her family is her little nephew. However, this family became more chaotic when her little nephew and her brother were kidnapped by an organization that wanted to ask for cash. With just 30 minutes to send the 5 million yen worth of money, Juri’s grandfather opens a secret from their family. By sacrifice his blood into a mystical stone, all of them entered a world called Stasis, a world where the whole thing stopped. When they get to their destination, they get some people who move as well as they do. With no hope, a monster known as the Herald appears to stop the violence, chaos, and hypocrites as the keepers of the silent world.

KKK 01

The essence of the story is really just a matter of a world of time involving things of kinship or drama that are only memorable in the beginning. Until the end, something has happened that involves a world called a silent world emerging just to save her brother and younger brother. This is not the one I’ve seen so often but this is an alternate world that involves a story about good and evil where one story focuses on a family that wants to save their families. This problem looks simple but extended to the end of each episode, which I initially thought it’s had just turned into a variety of unrelated conflicts. If discussing this anime, the initial execution is good by the way. There are just a few problems here. The impressed plot attempts to make the atmosphere of the audience feel tense even worse. Like, a query that adds many different dilemmas. Not to mention, this anime that has been impressed to push the psychological and mysterious genre into chaos, again, with some plots hole that didn’t answer my fundamental question, some dialogue that I consider is pointless, and the reversing character that just upside down. The ending is also, what I think, has a very less settlement like “Just like this? There is no more?” makes me more want to find out or read the manga. I loved one of the dialogues where the main character Yukawa Juri along with other characters gathered to plan how to beat Junji Sagawa. Yukawa Juri said “Okay. Let’s get rid of that guy.” and other characters like don’t care and don’t give a frick so there is a taste of cringe, awkward, and funny at the same time. One character that appears at the beginning of the episode is also not very clear that what the background is. This deus ex machina seems to appear with the cliches way and free the main character with a miracle so that like the director wants to finish this anime as fast as he can. For more detail, let me summarize this. This anime has its own cliches of chasing, being chased, running, teleportation, making the bad guy back to the real world, dialogue, dialogue, more dialogue, a little pointless scene, characters that crossing sides, awkward scene, pointless characters, plot holes, and a compelling settlement to make a happy ending from a dark anime into a charming anime. Don’t forget with some filler from the old tragic past by characters both protagonist and antagonist who don’t produce very relevant information or terms, meaningless.

The visuals and the artwork look’s bleak, made as dark as possible, using a grim background, and the use of colors that mostly use the dark palette. But I think it’s ironic when the artwork and the animation in the opening song are better than the story it was. I was also amazed at the use of artwork and animation in the memorable pervert ending song compared to the closing animation which was also better than the ending. This is also what makes it mess up again because the director wants to combine the things that taboo with a cliche like a perv thing or something like that. If I want to compare the art and the animation with other anime, maybe Danganronpa: The Animation is one of them because this anime also has an animation that seems to show explicit but not thriving. Even so, the whole aspect of Danganronpa is better than this anime. I appreciate the opening song and the ending because it’s nice and catchy to hear. The opening song entitled “Flashback” by MIYAVI vs. KenKen presents the atmosphere that this anime will show an anime that is downhearted and mysterious inside. I also think that the ending song’s “Asayake to Nettaigyo” by Boku no Lyric no Bouyomi looks good although not very memorable but the animation and the concept that makes it melt and crumble. Chika Anzai who fills Juri Yukawa voices I can say it’s mediocre because she is better than filling the voices of Merry from Grimgar: Ashes And Illusions because it seemed closed and narrow. Kazuhiro Yamaji is also very nice from all of them. Asami Seto is the same as Chika Anzai. But I appreciate Michiru who has composed the soundtrack and background in this anime because she made the whole action and the intense scenes are better. There are some characters that I don’t really know how it resembles or painless with the presence. Like for example, Tsubasa Yukawa which I think his presence becomes pointless from beginning to end. Not to mention, he became a lost character after the situation that occurred in this anime for those of you who’ve watched it. Takafumi Yukawa is also same because they are pointless. Although like that, this character sometimes trigger his presence so it’s not made pointless and important in some significant scenes. The main character also I didn’t really pay attention to how it works. However, I just hate the antagonist or “not” from Junji Sagawa who is too subtle. In fact, I can’t say this character is an antagonist. In addition, I also wonder if this anime only has a scene talk, talk, and talk. Just a few parts of the action scene and that goes too far I guess some are pointless and some are not. Likewise with some of the protagonist characters that only once turned into a bad guy.

Overall, Kokkoku is just good at the beginning for me that having tricked me from the beginning too. I also don’t think too much that this anime is getting a bit of attention and not to mention, not very memorable compared to the mecha anime that trying to be mecha with the toxic fanbase, Darling in the FranXX. But it’s still a good anime compared to that mecha thing even though I haven’t watched it at all. The plot is still too soft, forcing it to be a thriller thing although it doesn’t show it too much, pointless as well as meaningless and the ending that I think still depends a bit because the solution is too weak. But, this anime is great if you want to find something with a complex story but easy to digest.

Game – The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth [REVIEW] – A Randomly Generated Action RPG Shooter With Heavy Rogue-like Elements

IGN Rating: 9/10
Genres: Roguelike, Dungeon crawl
Developer: Nicalis
Publisher: Edmund McMillen

Platform: Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, New Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One, iOS, Nintendo Switch

The Binding Of Isaac is one of the roguelike games that spend gamers time in a great way. I played the original version and reviewed it in December last year and for the remake version, The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth is no less impressive with the original one. Edmund McMillen added more features than the original version. From the side project by makers of Super Meat Boy and The End Is Nigh, The Binding Of Isaac is a game with difficulty level that is a bit hardest also because this game works with what is presented here. Many challenges and time-consuming players are more than hundreds of hours. One more thing, this game also expands it more disgusting places than its original version. The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth also presents us a gameplay and graphics with a better quality.

Just like the original version, The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth still carries controversy that inspired from the story of the prophet Isaac or in Islamic religion is Ishmael’s where the god commands the Prophet Abraham to slaughter him on the basis of obedience tests. Taking a comical perspective in absurbs way, it’s not wrong if this game’s contain controversy that makes some people don’t agree it.

For me, what makes The Binding Of Isaac is it so demand by many people and even have a huge fanbase? Why does something controversy be so entertaining by people? The answer is The Binding Of Isaac is a masterpiece mainly lies it’s in the gameplay. The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth still presents us with a scrambled dungeon so every game the player play it will feel different. Every time you finish each level then the difficulty level is also sometimes increased and sometimes not because this game relies on the luck of the player. Each when a player defeats the boss then a special passive item or a secret room will open. The power-ups that scattered inside the room have a random effect although some are fixed. This item is sometimes we don’t know what the function of the item unless the player knows how to use it. There will be many surprises that players encounter when playing this game and not to mention, the level of difficulty. Even though we die repeatedly, we still keep repeating it. In The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth, the features are much bigger and better. A more varied room is also like some room that sometimes makes the original version of this version is much better. Not to mention, it would be more exciting if the player played co-op mode to add the experience of playing this game.

In the original version, it’s not surprising that the original has its own weaknesses. Not to mention that they use Adobe Flash engine. So, I also don’t feel surprised by the size of the game is pretty small compared with the remake version. I also often get indications like decreased FPS as well as lag and freeze that often occur in the original version. Maybe, it’s just my PC that so bad or some of you may feel it. But The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth fixes everything. This remake version brings you to the experience of playing very smooth at 60 FPS. Although sometimes the FPS always drops too small, it doesn’t change the experience of playing this game. Sometimes, the character who’ve been overpowered or get the whole power-up make this game bring out the lack. For the graphics, I prefer this version of the remake that carries the pixel theme compared with the original version that carries the vector. Actually, it also depends on the player. But, I admit if I really like pixel games. The pixels are not impressed lack, look smooth, and cool to look at. Actually, The Binding Of Isaac: Rebirth is not a version of the sequel or a spin-off that some people expect. This is just a remake version with the addition of features that become better than the original version. Plus, I also didn’t write much about this game because I’ve discussed all of the features in the original series which is actually the same in this version too. However, The Binding Of Isaac is one of the roguelike games that will spend your time for an hour.

Overall, this game does look very absurd from the cover by the way when you see it. Not to mention, the theme that carried also contains religion, controversy, and elements that are repulsive. But behind that, I’m not too concerned about it because The Binding Of Isaac is one roguelike game that is suitable for you fans of pixel games and classic games. With the same gameplay as The Legend Of Zelda NES version, The Binding Of Isaac presents us with exciting experiences and adventures to enjoy. It takes depression but in a good context so we always repeat this game. At the end of it, this game managed to waste my time for hours but I wanted to play it again.

Movie – Requiem For A Dream [REVIEW] – From The Director Of [Pi]

IMDB Rating: 8,3/10
Genre: Drama
Director: Darren Aronofsky
Writer: Hubert Selby Jr.
Stars: Ellen BurstynJared LetoJennifer Connelly

We all certainly know that drugs are something that you should not approach. Everyone knows that, for sure. It’s just that many people are still using it for reasons to escape from reality and want to create a world of their own. Honestly, I sometimes like to smoke if one of my friends offers me that stuff but I do it on the spots like people who use drugs too. Even so, I’m not so addicted to it like a normal person. Unlike people who gave up their money to buy a pack of cigarettes per day. However, Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem For A Dream shattered my eyes back about drugs. Black Swan, Mother!, Noah, and Pi are the other masterpiece works from Darren Aronofsky. However, Requiem For A Dream is the insane movie and one of those non-horror movies that scare me even I will never watch this movie again. He interprets an addict with really good ways even delivered in right way. However, it’s not just about the drugs but something called “addiction” is the main summary in this movie.

“Requiem For A Dream,” tells about Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), a retired widow who lives in her small apartment. She spent watching her favorite TV show, self-help show. She always dreamed that she could be present on the TV show and be a guest star in it. Her son, Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto) is a junkie who always hangs out with his friend Tyrone C. Love (Marlon Wayans) who dreams of wanting to make his mother happy by becoming a drug dealer. Harry’s boyfriend, Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly) dreams that she wants to become a fashion designer, but she is dragged into her drug-filled world of Harry. At the same time, Sara also found her own addiction. She is very depressed to lose weight and become addicted after consuming a lot of pills where she becomes very addicted and little by little she mess up.

Jennifer Connelly in Requiem for a Dream (2000)

After his success was re-achieved by the movie Mother!, it turns out there is also someone who makes a movie like this. The premise is simple, 4 people with different stories, dreams drowned in the world of drugs and produce a continuous story and intact. If you read the synopsis, we all know that this movie doesn’t end with a happy ending. In fact, from beginning to end-even this movie presents the sensation of depression and no hope at all. Obviously, this movie is devoted to adults because of the explicit scenes such as drugs, sex, nudity, disturbing, and others. However, this film presents the whole theme because there is a concept. We also know that this movie will be like and how the moral message is. Like, never use drugs or never get addicted to the stuff. However, this is not about discussing drugs but discussing a dream that buried deep in an addiction but not too fixed with the drug. From the novel adaptation of the same title by Hubert Selby Jr., Requiem For A Dream is like a movie that I also didn’t expect would it’s like.

Jennifer Connelly and Jared Leto in Requiem for a Dream (2000)

Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Marlon Wayans, and Jennifer Connelly are the best actor and actress in this film. In particular, Ellen Burstyn who’s earned an Oscar nomination in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category. Her character is built slowly and doesn’t seem in a hurry if I compare it with 3 other characters because this character is like from normal to “worst” person. She portrays a lonely old character because her husband has died and her child is unusually notified by being immersed in his own world. Starting from her dream to appear on her favorite TV show which she considers to be staying in prison. Her character will be made even worse and well-developed when she becomes swept away by addiction until her common sense disappears. I also liked the message of this character because her addiction to diet and television made him into a comfortable zone that didn’t want to get out until it finally became insane. Jared Leto’s acting has an excellent performance as well with Jennifer Connelly who made me mindblowing after the character she played in A Beautiful Mind became disoriented. Marlon Wayans is also nice despite getting a small quota because the background of this character I think is vague. In addition, you also certainly will feel familiar with the theme song of the movie composed by Clint Mansell. In the end, if I hear it again, I will remember something which I don’t want to remember. Mostly, the theme song of this movie is used a lot in some movies that have been remixed by the composer and the videos on YouTube.

Jared Leto in Requiem for a Dream (2000)

Speaking of the director, Darren Aronofsky often uses some of the techniques he often uses in this movie. Call it like a double screen technique like in the movie 500 Days Of Summer by Marc Webb. He also uses a slow motion and fast motion scene simultaneously from the character among the figure. I also like with the ending technique that is presented in this movie. No spoiler here, the 4 characters lying down on a bed like a baby with a camera zoom out from Matthew Libatique that’s so slow. Darren also often uses a technique called hip-hop montage, where this technique is using a one-second frame quickly when the character is taking a drug. It has some interesting thing when the film is nearing climax and ending with the support of a score from Clint Mansell. After reading many reviews, some of them have been touched, moved, even cried when watching this movie. In fact, Matthew Libatique also cried during the making of this film. Darren who told ‘cut’ to Matthew instead himself who has swept away with his own story. This is one of the unique trivia I’ve ever heard because it’s producing the craziest movie ever and I’ll never watch it again.

Overall, Requiem For A Dream is a movie with an insane “addiction” that ever existed. After I watch this movie, I just want to show this film to some of my friends who use drugs. In fact, I really want to show this movie as like this is the result if you were using drugs. Ellen Burstyn’s incredible performance is even memorable in every scene, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Connely as a couple overlapping, and Marlon Wayans who crazy too. Although the premise is simple, I’m sure of course after watching this movie you don’t want to watch it anymore. It’s depressing but in good ways. There is no happy ending in this movie and don’t ever hope with his existence. Clint Mansell also makes a music that will continually be stuck in my head and I will often hear it every day. Requiem For A Dream is an amazing experience when watching this movie.
