After the success of the two-season anime series and some game titles adapted, this time in 2017 will be present an adaptation of animated films. This Reki Kawahara work’s aired in so many various countries, including Indonesia. The story in this film is also directly written by Reki Kawahara and Tomohiko Ito again directed this film which previously also directed 2 seasons of Sword Art Online.

4 years passed after the incident Sword Art Online, the Japanese people loved the presence of a new device called AUGMA that using Augmented Reality. The workings of this device are unique because it can be used anywhere with a function as a medium of communication, entertainment, and play games. In this device, there is also a MMORPG game named Ordinal Scale. Kirito and his friends didn’t want to miss trying the game. But while others get used to the game, Kirito still cannot be fully interested in the Ordinal Scale because it claims to be more comfortable playing VR than AR. One day, Ordinal Scale presents an event featuring boss monsters from Sword Art Online. Amid the presence of various monsters from Aincrad, the presence of a virtual idol named Yuna and also the 2nd ranked Ordinal Scale named Eiji opened a mystery of Ordinal Scale and also the tragedy of Sword Art Online.

Ordinal Scale 1

I just admit it this Sword Art Online movie is better than the previous 2 seasons. In my opinion, there are so many interesting things that we can see in this movie although the core story is still related to the tragedy of Sword Art Online. SAO Movie: Ordinal Scale is an anime that produces a very new story but still has a relationship with SAO in both anime and light novels.

Sword Art Online Movie: Ordinal Scale also presents a stunning visual that uses a 3D structure with an opening from Aincrad tower building which originally became the background of SAO. It is impossible if the 2D animation isn’t in this movie because it is also something that is its own appeal in terms of visual. The 2D animation in this movie comes with a very riveting. Various kinds of animations are very smooth to flashy and filled with a very tense fighting scene that makes Ordinal Scale can give the impression of exciting in this film. Instead, the character’s design is also improved in such detail such as the characters of both Kirito and his friends.

Ordinal Scale 2

This film also brings a very far different from SAO, ALO, and GGO. Players who use Ordinal Scale are required to move their own bodies, running in reality and swinging weapons. Therefore, Ordinal Scale brings all its players to play natural, following the player’s body movements. For Kirito, he prefers VR-based physical movements determined by player status compared to AR requiring to move his own body.

Sword Art Online Kirito

Like the Sword Art Online anime, it also brings a feeling of drama and romance that makes some development of the characters. But this romance story is not only Kirito and Asuna alone, but the story of Eiji drama with the virtual idol Yuna as a new character in the introduction in this film. Of all the character development, Yuna has interesting points. Although she is an AI program, Yuna is based on deep-learning technology that makes Yuna look like a human with other players. Yuna here is also the main story for this movie.

Overall, this movie is quite suitable to watch by all teenagers either SAO fans, action anime fans, MMORPG, or even for those of you who don’t like anime can also watch it. The animation shown does look quite interesting. By the way, the last ending song performed by LiSA is good enough to be heard. Also, a surprise is prepared in the after-credit section of this film.

Break Free From His Virtual Hell

DAY 29 – AN ANIME YOU WISHED WAS REAL

Day 29 of 30 Day Anime Challenge. Tomorrow is the last day of this challenge. It doesn’t feel so far, but yesterday was just like the first day. Forget about it, and our topic this time is “An Anime You Wished Was Real.”

Otaku always dreams that someday, their favorite anime will become real in reality. They hope that the characters that exist in anime it’s in the real world. It may sound strange and embarrassing and also because I also often imagine something like that. Call it you are in the fantasy world that you make. You guys are the main actor in that world, respected by your friends, handsome, cool, great, and certainly surrounded by all of the character girl anime. To be honest, I really like to fantasize like that. But, if asked what anime you want to be a real world, I would answer “Sword Art Online.”

Sword Art Online

In the year 2022, virtual reality has progressed by leaps and bounds, and a massive online role-playing game called Sword Art Online (SAO) is launched. With the aid of “NerveGear” technology, players can control their avatars within the game using nothing but their own thoughts.

Kazuto Kirigaya, nicknamed “Kirito,” is among the lucky few enthusiasts who get their hands on the first shipment of the game. He logs in to find himself, with ten others, in the scenic and elaborate world of Aincrad, one of fantastic medieval weapons and gruesome monsters. However, in a cruel turn of events, the players soon realize they can not log out; the game’s creator has trapped them in his new world until they complete all of the games.

In order to escape Aincrad, Kirito will now have to interact and cooperate with his fellow players. Some are allies, while others are foes, like Asuna Yuuki, who commands the leading group attempting to escape from the ruthless game. To make matters worse, Sword Art Online is not all fun and games: if they die in Aincrad, they die in real life. Kirito must adapt to his new reality, fight for his survival, and hopefully break free from his virtual hell.

Kirito

To be honest, I don’t really like this anime but I don’t hate it because this anime is anime that makes me fall in love with the anime world. Due to the frequency of playing the game and this anime show by my friend and I immediately like an anime. The world in SAO isn’t much different from the real world. But, what I mean here is what if all gamers who exist in this world play a game called SAO.

You can do anything in it because this is what people call ‘escape from reality’. You can live in that world for a very long time, get what you want like money or girlfriend in that world, or else you just want to gain popularity in that world. It sounds like a loser but, fuck reality. The world is just like a shelter that, in the end, we will all return to the universe whatever happens. But, sorry. I also don’t take this seriously. I realize that this is the real world, so don’t be put into your emotion. 😀

DAY 10 – FAVORITE FIGHTER ANIME

Day 10 of 30 Day Anime Challenge. I don’t know what to say first but it’s time to discuss our topic this time titled, “Favorite Fighter Anime.”

Anime fighting is very cool to watch. Moreover, among men who love the anime action. Anime action is very much, call it mainstream anime such as Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, One Punch Man, and the most important is Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball. Among that anime, all people definitely know that anime. For some reason, I really like this kind of genre but I just don’t really like the anime like that. The anime that I watch isn’t much different from the others. Call it, “Durarara!!”

Durarara!!

“Durarara!!” Set in Tokyo’s downtown, Ikebukuro district. The city has its own uniqueness including rumors and warnings about anonymous gangs, and the most commonly encountered urban legend is “Black Rider,” a rider driving a jet black headless motorcycle around a city street.

Mikado Ryuugamine is always amazed by the beauty and life of that city. He was invited by his childhood friend to move to Tokyo. On his first day, he hopes to see the Black Rider. His request was granted on his first day. However, many interesting events that aren’t inferior to the Black Rider. Like the city residents who look ordinary itself, colorful of Ikebukuro, and unique people that he met.

I really like this anime because of the background story, the character traits are introduced in detail, and the visuals are very good. The plot is unlike other anime that using a nonlinear and character recognition is also introduced in their respective viewpoints.

Of all the characters that exist in this anime, Heiwajima Shizuo is a fighter (Maybe he isn’t exactly a fighter). From his childhood, he has got the power that can lift any object and throw it away. He’s emotional but always beat his enemy with just one punch. Shizuo has a rival named Orihara Izaya. When meeting, Shizuo and Orihara always fight. Shizuo also has a very caring person with his friends, especially with Ryuugamine. Since Shizuo is the strongest member in Dollars, Shizuo always helps the problems who facing Ryuugamine.

Okay, we have to end it this time. Indeed many other fighter anime that I like. But, if Durarara!! May not be exactly anime action. Although this anime many getting hated, I really like this anime.

First Anime I’ve Become An ‘Otaku’

DAY 1 – VERY FIRST ANIME YOU’VE WATCHED

So this is the first day for the 30 Day Anime Challenge. I woke up late so far because my insomniac disease got worse. Hahaha, For this first day, I will discuss the first anime I’ve watched.

Hmmm … Perhaps arguably the old-school anime such as Naruto, Captain Tsubasa, Air Gear, One Piece and other 90s anime. If you asked the 90s “what’s the first anime you’re watching?”, they will answer the anime that existed in their childhood. In a way, you will not forget the beautiful childhood and your taste spectacles in your childhood. Nowadays, is very rare to find an anime on TV. Also, it’s very rare to find people who have an interest in anime.

But, I want to discuss the first anime that makes me become a fanatic anime or an otaku. Well, none other than “Accel World.”

Accel World

So the story is, when I was in the third grade of Junior High School, I had a friend who was also a neighbor. In a way, he always comes to my house and vice versa. At that time, I still don’t really know the name A-N-I-M-E. I don’t really like that thing with a smell like that. When I came to his house, he showed me an anime-themed game called “Accel World.” Somehow, he showed me the anime. So I just watched it one episode. But it turns out, I thought it was interesting too. Probably because I play a lot of games, so he showed me the anime. “Dammit, so he’s been an anime fan ever,” I thought. So, I tried to send the anime and then try it to watch at home. After complete that anime, well it turns out like this is like watching anime. So I asked for another recommendation from him and he recommended me “Sword Art Online.” This overrated anime also amazes me when I watch it. Starting from there I was attracted by the Japanese thing and anime. In addition to game-themed anime, I also watch other interesting anime.

Yeah, not too far. Actually, it took a long journey as well to become an anime fanatic. Start from high school, meet one otaku friend, go to Japan events together with many friends, and become weeaboo together lol. Anyway, maybe we can end here for the first day of 30 Day Anime Challenge. For tomorrow, I will discuss “Favorite Anime You’ve Watched So Far.” So, see you tomorrow. 🙂
